Sports Injury Around Knee Joint

Abstract
The purpose of this study were to analyze the incidence and location of knee injury during sports and expose the problems of sports injury.We analyzed 131 cases through prospective randomized trials that sustained the knee injury during sports and visited out patient department of one knee surgeon from April 2003 to March 2004. Questionnaire was made to detect the sport categories, level of skill, and duration from the injury onset to the definite diagnosis. Diagnosis was made by physical examination and MRI findings. The injury was ACL tear, meniscus and collateral ligament injuries with 80 cases (61.1%), 62 cases (47.3%), and 25 cases (19.1%) in order. Soccer was the most frequent (58 cases, 44.3%) and followed by basketball (19 cases, 14.5%) and ski (17 cases, 12.9%). There were more knee injuries in non-expert players. In 82 patients (62.6%), it took more than 1 month for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.Soccer was the most frequent cause of knee injuries. Incidence of ACL injury was the highest. Definite diagnosis and treatment were delayed in many cases.
